5τοτίμου Πειραιεὺς εἶπεν· ἀγαθῆι τύχηι τοῦ δ–
6ήμου τοῦ Ἀθηναίων, δεδόχθαι τοῖς νομοθέται–
7ς· ἐάν τις ἐπαναστῆι τῶι δήμωι ἐπὶ τυραννίδι
8ἢ τὴν τυραννίδα συνκαταστήσηι ἢ τὸν δῆμον τ–

15θίζειν ἐν τῶι συνεδρίωι μηδὲ βουλεύειν μη–
16δὲ περὶ ἑνός· ἐὰν δέ τις τοῦ δήμου ἢ τῆς δημοκρ–
17ατίας καταλελυμένων τῶν Ἀθήνησιν ἀνίηι τῶ–
18ν βουλευτῶν τῶν ἐξ Ἀρείου πάγου εἰς Ἄρειον π–
19άγον ἢ συνκαθίζηι ἐν τῶι συνεδρίωι ἢ βολεύη–
20ι περί τινος, ἄτιμος ἔστω καὶ αὐτὸς καὶ γένος
21τὸ ἐξ ἐκείνου καὶ ἡ οὐσία δημοσία ἔστω αὐτοῦ
22καὶ τῆς θεοῦ τὸ ἐπιδέκατον· ἀναγράψαι δὲ τόν–
23δε τὸν νόμον ἐν στήλαις λιθίναις δυοῖν τὸν γ–
24ραμματέα τῆς βουλῆς καὶ στῆσαι τὴμ μὲν ἐπὶ τ–
25ῆς εἰσόδου τῆς εἰς Ἄρειον πάγον τῆς εἰς τὸ βο–
26υλευτήριον εἰσιόντι, τὴν δὲ ἐν τῆι ἐκκλησία–
27ι· εἰς δὲ τὴν ἀναγραφὴν τῶν στηλῶν τὸν ταμίαν
28δοῦναι τοῦ δήμου : ΔΔ : δραχμὰς ἐκ τῶν κατὰ ψη–

5totimos aus (dem Demos) Peiraieus stellte den Antrag: zu Glück und Heil des
6Volkes der Athener, wollen beschließen die Nomotheten: dass,
7wenn jemand sich erhebt gegen das Volk erhebt für eine Tyrannis
8oder die Tyrannis miteinrichtet oder das Volk
9der Athener oder die Demokratie in Athen
10stürzt, wer den, der davon etwas tut, tötet,
11entsühnt sei; dass nicht erlaubt sei (einem) der
12Ratsherren des Rates vom Areiopag, falls
13gestürzt ist das Volk oder die Demokratie in
14Athen, weder hinaufzugehen auf den Areopag noch
15teilzunehmen an der Sitzung oder zu beraten,
16über keinen Gegenstand. Wenn aber, falls das Volk oder die Demo-
17kratie in Athen gestürzt sind, von den Ratsherrn
18vom Areopag hinaufgeht auf den Areopag
19oder teilnimmt an der Sitzung oder berät
20über einen Gegenstand, soll er rechtlos sein, er selbst und seine
21Nachkommenschaft, und seine Habe soll konfisziert sein
22und der Göttin der Zehnte zufallen; dass aufzeichne dieses
23Gesetz auf zwei steinerne Stelen der
24Sekretär des Rates und aufstelle die eine bei
25dem Eingang zum Areopag, wo man in das
26Bouleuterion hineingeht, die andere in der Volksversammlung;
27dass für die Aufzeichnung auf den Stelen der Schatzmeister
28des Volkes 20 Drachmen gebe aus dem
29Dekret-Fonds des Volkes.

                    

                        

1In the archonship of Phrynichos (337/6), in the ninth
2prytany, of Leontis, for which Chairestratos son of Ameinias
3of Acharnai was secretary. Of the presiding committee
4Menestratos of Aixone was putting to the vote. Eukrates
5son of Aristotimos of Piraeus proposed: for the good fortune of the
6Athenian People, the lawmakers shall decide:
7if anyone rises up against the People
8for a tyranny or joins in establishing a tyranny or overthrows
9the Athenian People or the democracy at Athens,
10whoever kills anyone who does any of these things
11shall be without guilt; and it shall not be permitted for the councillors
12of the Council of the Areopagos,
13if the People or the democracy at Athens have been overthrown,
14to go up to the Areopagos or to sit
15in session or to deliberate about
16anything; but if, when the People or the democracy
17has been overthrown at Athens, any
18of the councillors of the Areopagos go up to the
19Areopagos or sit in session or deliberate
20about anything, he shall be deprived of citizen rights, both he and his
21descendants, and his estate shall be public property,
22and a tithe for the goddess; and the secretary
23of the Council shall inscribe this law on two
24stone stelai and set up one at the
25entrance to the Areopagos as one
26goes into the Council chamber, the other in the Assembly;
27and for inscribing the stelai the treasurer of the People
28shall give 20 drachmas from the
29People’s fund for expenditure on decrees.
